Online Rubik's cube timer
A speedcubing timer on your phone or computer: hold Space (or your finger on the screen), let go to start and press again when you finish.
- Official WCA scrambles for every event: 2x2 to 7x7, blindfolded, one-handed, Megaminx, Pyraminx, Skewb, Square-1 and Clock.
- 15-second inspection as in competition, with 8 and 12 second calls and +2 and DNF penalties.
- ao5, ao12 and mo3 averages, your best time, a histogram and your progress. Import your times from csTimer or Twisty Timer.
- With a smart cube (GAN, MoYu, QiYi…) the timer starts when you turn and stops when it is solved, with a breakdown of each CFOP step.
- Free, no ads and no account: your times are saved in your browser and it works offline.

Your cube
Connection
To use your smart cube on iPhone or iPad
- Install Bluefy, a free browser with Bluetooth.
- Open twistlab.app in Bluefy.
- Tap Connect and pick your cube. The first time it may ask for the cube’s MAC; the app remembers it.
Without the cube, everything else (timer, Academy, Quiz) works in Safari.
- Cube
- –
This cube doesn’t report its colors: the app takes it as solved when it connects. If it wasn’t, solve it and tap “Mark as solved”.
Connect your smart cube over Bluetooth (Chrome or Edge): GAN, MoYu, QiYi, GiiKER or GoCube. Some ask for their MAC address the first time; after that the app remembers it.
Settings
Recalibrate: if the cube on screen doesn’t follow how you hold yours (cubes with a gyroscope).
Mark as solved: if the cube on screen doesn’t match yours, solve it by hand and press this.

Guide
I take you move by move: to a random scramble, or to solving the cube from wherever it is.
Paint your cube
No smart cube? Copy your cube’s colors or type its scramble and I’ll tell you how to solve it, move by move.
Rubik's cube solver online
Hold your cube with yellow on top and green in front, and copy its colors onto the net: the cube unfolded, each face next to its neighbors. The centers are already set. To see the top face, tilt the cube toward you; for the bottom, tilt it away.
With a keyboard: arrows to move, 1–6 paints that color, Space paints the selected one.
Solution
How the solver works
- Copy your cube’s colors onto the net, or type the scramble in notation (R U F2…) and I’ll paint it.
- Before solving I check that your cube is possible: too many of a color, pieces that don’t exist, twisted corners or flipped edges.
- Pick the shortest solution, worked out by the computer, or the beginner method, explained step by step.
- Follow every turn on the 3D cube, forward and back, at your own pace.
- Free and ad-free, on your phone or computer.

Triggers
A trigger is a short block of moves that repeats in many algorithms, like R U R' U'.
Done as a single gesture, a 14-move algorithm becomes 3 or 4 blocks: you learn it sooner and it comes out faster.
How to practice them
Repeat each one until it flows without thinking. Many bring the cube back to solved after a few repetitions: that tells you whether you did it right.
With Practice you time repetitions on your cube and save your turns per second.
- Sexy move
R U R' U': The most common one. It only touches the R and U faces: it cycles 3 edges and swaps 2 pairs of corners. It shows up in F2L, OLL and PLL. Repeated 6 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - Reverse sexy
U R U' R': The inverse of the sexy move: it undoes it. It moves the same pieces the other way. Repeated 6 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - Left sexy move
L' U' L U: The mirror of the sexy move for the left hand: the same, on the left side (L and U faces). Repeated 6 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - Sledgehammer
R' F R F': It only turns the R and F faces: it cycles 3 edges (2 end up flipped) and swaps 2 pairs of corners. It shows up in F2L, OLL, PLL and CMLL. Repeated 6 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - Hedgeslammer
F R' F' R: The inverse of the sledgehammer: it moves the same pieces the other way. Repeated 6 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - R U R' insert
R U R': The basic F2L trigger: it puts the corner above the front-right slot and the back edge into that slot. Repeated 4 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - R U' R' insert
R U' R': It puts the already-joined pair on top, front left, into the front-right slot. Repeated 4 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - R U2 R' insert
R U2 R': It swaps the pair in the front-right slot with what is on top at the back left. Useful to split a pair or set one up. Repeated 2 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - Sune
R U R' U R U2 R': It only touches the last layer: it twists 3 corners, swaps all 4 corners around and moves 3 edges. It solves the Sune OLL case and is the base of many corner algorithms. Repeated 6 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - Antisune
R U2 R' U' R U' R': The inverse of the Sune: it twists the 3 corners the other way. It solves the Antisune OLL case. Repeated 6 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - F sexy F'
F R U R' U' F': It only touches the last layer and flips 2 edges: with the yellow line horizontal (left-right) it makes the cross. It is the yellow-cross step of the beginner method. Repeated 6 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - f sexy f'
f R U R' U' f': Like the previous one, but f moves two layers: with the yellow L at the front and right, it makes the cross. Repeated 6 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved. - Wide sexy move
r U R' U': The sexy move with r instead of R: it also drags the middle layer, so it moves centers and bottom edges. It shows up in OLL and COLL. Repeated 12 times in a row it brings the cube back to solved.

- Works offline after the first visit, and can be installed from the browser menu.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes, completely: no ads, no paid version and no limits.
Do I need an account?
No. You open the site and start: there’s no sign-up. The account is optional and only keeps your progress, to have it on all your devices.
Does it work with my smart cube?
With Bluetooth cubes from GAN, MoYu, QiYi, GiiKER and GoCube, from Chrome or Edge on Android, Windows, macOS or Linux: go to Cube and tap Connect. Without a smart cube everything else works (timer, academy and algorithms), and in Paint your cube you copy your cube’s colors to see how to solve it.
And on iPhone?
The site works in Safari, but Safari has no Bluetooth: to connect a smart cube use Bluefy, a free browser that does.
Where is my data stored?
In this browser’s local storage (localStorage). If you clear the browser’s data it’s lost; to keep it or move it to another device, sign in with your email in Progress (it’s saved to your account automatically) or export a backup.
What does the account store?
Only if you sign in with your email: your email, used only to send you the sign-in code (no ads or newsletters), and this app’s progress (times, practice, learning and settings) to have it on your devices. There’s no password; a cookie keeps you signed in for 90 days from your last visit. You can delete the account and everything saved in it in Progress → Account.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first visit, TwistLab opens even without internet: scrambles, the timer and the academy work, because everything is computed on your device. You can install it from the browser menu (Add to Home Screen or Install).
Who is it for?
For people who have never solved the cube and for those who want to bring their times down: you start with the white cross and the beginner method, move on to reduced CFOP and get to full CFOP (41 F2L, 57 OLL and 21 PLL cases).
Are the scrambles like the WCA’s?
Yes: random-state scrambles for every event, the same kind as the official ones, generated on your device with cubing.js. They aren’t the ones from a specific competition: those are generated for each competition.
Hold the cube as shown on screen. If you make a mistake, the guide recalculates from where you are.
